Hello,
Just like that, it’s another Friday. I hope you enjoy Fridays as much as I do.
I’m excited to be here again. I sent part 1 of this note to you last week. I hope it’s helping out in your writing journey.
Did you miss it? I got you. You can read it here
Today, we’ll wrap off on how to write emotional stories.
Evoke Empathy
Make your readers care deeply about your characters by evoking empathy. Show them the struggles, joys, and challenges your characters face, allowing your audience to walk in their shoes.
Avoid making your characters look too much of a flawless superhero. It makes it unrealistic. Give your readers a reason to feel sad, happy, annoyed, and laugh at different points of your characters’ life. After all, life in itself is a bed of roses because there are no roses without thorns.
Use Resonant Themes
Weave meaningful themes throughout your narrative that resonate with universal emotions. Whether it's love, loss, or hope, exploring these themes will strike a chord in your readers' hearts.
Before you write your story, pick one of these powerful themes. This is not to say this is your story title or plot. But let the story explore at least one of these power themes. It helps your readers connect faster.
Celebrate the Little Moments
Sometimes, it's the small moments that leave the most significant impact. Just the way we are always advised to celebrate our little wins, bring that to your story.
Celebrate the magic of everyday occurrences and let your readers experience the beauty in life's simplest joys.
The goal is to be creative and authentic. Even villains have moments where you are proud of them so don’t make the villain a loser all through.
The same thing to the hero- he/she should not lead a perfect life all through.
These are what make your stories real.
Remember, emotional storytelling is not about manipulation or pulling heartstrings—it's about crafting genuine connections with your readers. Share your authentic self through your words, and you'll find that your stories will resonate deeply with those who read them.
Are you ready to take your readers on an unforgettable emotional journey? I would love to read your story.
P.S. In our following note, I’ll show you how to craft plot twists that will leave your readers gasping in awe and delight!
